 More than simply a piece of furniture, the DC-3 Dakota Single Wingtip Desk showcases a DC-3 Wingtip, which has been individually salvaged, immaculately restored and converted to an elegant, European-designed showpiece. Each wingtip retains its original “Gooney Bird” aeronautical design, and now in its second life it is an intriguing desk, imposing boardroom table or impressive statement as furniture or art. It demonstrates its historic craftsmanship resulting in a rare wartime relic and a unique designer collectable. Mirror polished, the desk is made from the elliptical shaped, reversed wingtip. The underside of the wingtip becomes the top, creating a flat work surface and the top becomes the underside of the desk featuring a factory original navigation light at the tip. With hundreds of protruding rivet-heads, the desk demonstrates the style of pre-war aviation design. Each DC-3 Dakota Single Wingtip Desk produced has a long history of actual flying time, and may show signs of minor repairs, re-skinning and small dents as the scars of a hard working life. Desks are available in left-hand and right-hand wing sides and represent an investment in the historic value of a classic warbird.
